Table Calculations

Table calculations are computed only on the table of data generating the view. One big benefit is that they process very efficiently because Tableau has to do the math on only a small subset of the data. This type of calculation also allows you to use and learn relatively advanced formulas even if you are just getting started with Tableau’s syntax.

For this example, I set up a table in Figure 11-7 showing the Unique Orders calculated field from earlier in this chapter, broken down by the Segment and Year of Order Date dimensions.
